The Design Is Balanced. Balance is critical to the visual success of an embroidery job. Unbalanced designs present a lopsided appearance. Ensuring proper balance is a function of the order-taking process as well as the design setup process. But it actually begins in your mind. Look at the examples below, as they will illustrate several key concepts of improper balance, along with some possible fixes. Top Heavy – As you can see in Figure 1, this design is too concentrated at the top. It's common in the case of Boat Names to place a heavier emphasis on the name of the boat than the home-port. (The same goes for some Business Logo's, that incorporate the Company name along with a location or slogan.) Regardless of the emphasis, the design still needs to have balance. As you can see in Figure 2, balance is achieved, yet the Boat Name is still the emphasis of the design. This same principle applies to designs that may be bottom heavy.
