Next, perform the steps that need to be carried out before you can start embroidery, such as setting the needle numbers and the embroidery start point. "3.2.2 Setting the needle number" and related sections thereafter Bar codes for designs, which have been printed using the dedicated design creation software or a separate DG product, can be read using a commercially available bar code reader and loaded into the machine. 1. Connect the USB cable of the barcode reader to the USB port on the right side of the machine. 2. Send the design to the machine using the design creation software, and then print the bar code. For information on how to use the design creation software, refer to the manual for the design creation software. 3. Use a barcode reader to read the barcode that was printed in step 2. The design is loaded, and the Start Point Setting screen is displayed. Next, you should perform the other steps that need to be carried out before you can start an embroidery, such as deciding on the orientation of the design and setting the embroidery start point. "3.2.3 Setting the orientation of the design and the start point" and related sections thereafter 4.5 Loading a design using a barcode reader Caution To use a bar code reader, the dedicated design creation software or a separately available DG product is necessary. The PC needs to be connected to the machine using a LAN cable, and the network information for the machine needs to be set beforehand. "4.4 Loading a design from a PC using a LAN cable", "6.3 Performing network settings" Only bar code readers that are compatible with CODE 39 can be used. Make sure that only single-byte alphanumeric characters are used in the names of files to be read using a barcode reader. Note that all alphabetic characters in the file name will be converted to uppercase letters.
