Underlay can be used to create texture by raising the top stitches. This is a common application when working with monograms. These three characteristics can be controlled with any level of software, and are key ingredients for setting up embroidery designs for sewing. With higher levels of software such as editing and digitizing, many more control parameters are available such as stitch length, stitch direction, stitch types – run, satin, fill, etc. Digitizing processes are not explained here, as the explanations are lengthy and involved.
