this right from the start, then you will probably end up with a bizarrely colored design at the end of the first run. Better described as a trashed garment. Sometimes this extra color change doesn't show up when the design is checked in the computer, but exists at the machine level. The cause is difficult to pinpoint, but the solution is to watch the first run of a design carefully to ensure nothing unexpected occurs. You Rush The Order, But The Customer Doesn't Come Back Until A Week Later. Ever had a customer beg and plead for his order to be ready on Friday, then he doesn't show up for another week? Rush orders can play havoc with an efficient production schedule. Orders are postponed, deadlines may be missed, other customers are ignored, and extra hours may have to be worked by the staff. Bottom-line, rush orders typically cost more to produce. Are you charging a significant rush fee to cover this? It's surprising how many customers suddenly are willing to accept your normal turnaround times when faced with a hefty rush fee. Those that really need it quickly will be willing to pay for it. Don't sell yourself short when it comes to rush orders. The Customer Wants To Be Billed. How many times have you had the customer show up for his/her order without any means to pay for it. Don't you love that blank look when you hand them the bill, expecting payment. They blurt out something like, "just send me a bill" as they exit the front door with several hundred dollars worth of merchandise that you paid for. Suddenly, you are a bank, but unfortunately you aren't earning the interest. It's imperative that you setup payment policies and discuss them with the customer when they place the order. No payment – No Pickup. For those that insist on "terms", kindly ask them for a credit card. Let VISA and Mastercard handle the terms, you need to get paid. Until you actually get paid, you have only made money on paper, and unfortunately it's worthless paper when it comes to paying your bills. And there you have it.
