Wholesale Shops A Wholesale Decorator typically fills much larger orders than a Retail Shop, while still providing both the garment and the embellishment. Due to the larger quantities, prices are somewhat lower than a Retail Shop, especially for the garment. Also, some of the customers will be buying products for resale and will expect a significant discount over what a Retail Operation will charge. Wholesale Shops can work successfully from almost any location whether it's a storefront, warehouse, or garage. NOTE: Most Wholesale Shops provide retail services as well as limited contract services. Contract Shops Contract Shops focus on providing embellishment services only. They rarely, if ever, supply garments. Typically, a Contract Operation is very competitive on pricing and makes money by producing very large runs of the same logo on the same item. Thus, the focus is always on large jobs. Contract operations require high production machines in order to ensure a profit. Many smaller embellishment operations "contract out" their larger orders to Contract Decorators, who can do it much cheaper than they can. This enables the small shop to fill larger orders and still make a profit on the job. For example, an embroidery shop with only a couple of sewing heads would not be capable of producing a 1000 piece cap order in a timely fashion or at a competitive price. But rather than telling the customer "NO" they can use the services of a Contract Embroiderer to fill the order, then add a small markup to the cost. In the eyes of the customer, the Small Embroidery Shop was able to handle their needs. The following several pages will acquaint you to Embroidery, Direct to Garment, Textile Laser and Screen Printing. We will provide links to the products in our website to make it easier for you to see each product line in more detail.
