71 Chapter 6 Setting the Machine 6 This setting determines whether or not return stitches are sewn at the beginning of the embroidery. When this setting is enabled, return stitches―two times back and fourth―are sewn at the beginning of embroidery. When return stitches are sewn, problems at the beginning of the embroidery can be reduced. There will also be less chances for the thread to pull out. 1. Display the Embroidery Setting screen. 2. Tap [YES] or [NO] for [Return Stitches]. • To sew return stitches: [YES] • To not sew return stitches: [NO] Select from the following to set the length of upper thread that remains after the thread is trimmed. Long, Middle (default setting), and Short are the 3 settings that can be selected from. 1. Display the Embroidery Setting screen. 2. Using of , change the setting. 6.1.2 Sewing return stitches at the beginning of the embroidery Enable the setting for return stitches when the beginning stitches of a design is unstable. Some designs are already set so return stitches are sewn. 6.1.3 Changing length of upper thread after trimming If the end of the upper thread is visible on the front of the embroidery in places where sewing started, set this to [Middle] or [Short]. If the thread does not link correctly where embroidery is started, and embroidery cannot be carried out properly, set this to [Long]. When metallic type threads such as gold or silver are used, setting this to [Long] can help stabilize the start of embroidery.
