102 Chapter 8 Appendix 8 8.3.2 What to do when the embroidery results are not as expected Often, the cause of problems can be things such as the needle condition or the thread tension. Refer to the following and try to determine the source of the problem. If the cause cannot be identified, or the problem persists even after the recommended measures have been taken, consult with your sales dealer. Thread often breaks (*1) For details, refer to the manual for the design creation software that is being used. (*2) For information on how to perform the adjustment, consult with your sales dealer. Needle breaks Cause Measure to take Reference Improper thread tension. Adjust the tension of the upper thread and under thread. "3.3.2 Checking the tension of the upper thread", "2.3.2 Putting the bobbin in place" Upper thread doesn't flow properly. Replace the upper thread. "2.2 Threading the upper thread" Direction of needle is bad. Needle is bent. • Adjust the position of the needle so that its groove faces forward or slightly to the right. • Replace needles. "2.1 Replacing needles" Adhesive from appliqué has stuck to needles. • Remove the adhesive from the needles. • Replace needles. "2.1 Replacing needles" • Rotary hook is dirty. • The rotary hook has not been oiled. • Clean the rotary hook. • Lubricate the rotary hook. "8.2.1 Cleaning the machine" Design data contains numerous tiny stitches 0.5 mm or less. Eliminate the tiny stitches using the design creation software. (*1) The embroidering position with respect to the fabric is too high or is too low. Reposition the fabric on the embroidery frame so that it only lightly touches the needle plate. "2.4.1 Mounting the fabric on the embroidery frame" Needle bars have not been oiled. Lubricate the needle bars (once per week). "8.2.2 Lubrication" Height of presser foot inappropriate. Adjust the height of the presser foot so it is matched with the height of the material. (*2) Cause Measure to take Reference Improper thread tension. Adjust the tension of the upper thread and under thread. "3.3.2 Checking the tension of the upper thread", "2.3.2 Putting the bobbin in place" The density of satin stitches is extremely high. Modify the design. Eliminate unnecessary basting. (*1) Fabric is too thick or too hard. Use fabric that is more suitable for embroidery. "8.1 Producing beautiful embroidery"
