Chapter 1 Before Use 1-6 Media sensor The media sensor detects when media is present and determines the media length. The machine is equipped with one media sensor, on the back of the platen. Carriage The carriage includes a print head for ejecting ink, and a jam sensor for stopping the carriage when media clogs. Printing occurs as ink is ejected while traversing left and right. A lever is provided to adjust the head height in 3 levels to suit media thickness ( P.2-4 [Adjusting head height]). Cutter blade and cutting slot The carriage is equipped with a media cutting unit. Media is cut along the cutting slot on the platen. Capping station The capping station consists of ink caps, a wiper for cleaning print heads, and other parts required for head maintenance. The ink caps prevent the head nozzle surface from drying out. The wiper is used to clean head nozzles. The wiper is a consumable. If it becomes deformed or media becomes soiled, replace the wiper with a new one. • Load media so that it covers the media sensor on the back of the platen. Media cannot be detected unless it is placed over the sensor. Media sensor Cutter unit Cutting slot • Always wear the included safety glasses when cleaning inside the capping station. This pre- caution is necessary to prevent ink from getting in your eyes. [TxF150-75] [TxF300-75]
